Science 3: Makin' Waves Release 1.0 August '91
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Welcome to the fourth of scientific series. The subject here is
physics, and particularly the physics of waves and oscillations.
The following are the undulatory programs on this disk:
The main programs that you are likely to use for wave experimentation:
WAVEMAKER: This is a comprehensive program that allows you to build any
shape wave by specifying the number of harmonics to be added to it. It
also tests your understanding by presenting waves to be resolved into
their harmonics. Further, using the keyboard, it will play the sounds
represented by those waves, which should be useful for both physics and
music students.
SHM: This program is a Simple Harmonic Motion simulation, where the
interaction of two pendulums can be observed. You have full control
over the parameters, and because it is very nicely written, you can get
very artistic effects using colour cycling, etc.
CYCLOIDS: This program, specifically called HyperCycloid3, is a good
implementation of an electronic spirograph, with full control of all
parameters.
Also the following programs, of general wavy interest:
BEZIER: 3 Programs by Matt Dillon to allow experimentation with beziers.
BSPLINE: Another probram by Matt Dillon for experimenting with B-splines
AIRFOIL: An airfoil simulation for for all budding aircraft designers.
ALGORHYTHMS: This program needs a MIDI interface and synth to work;
it produces algorhythmic waveforms which are then played as music.
